After bombing the "ZASTAVA KOVACNICA" production plant on April 9 and 13,1999 by NATO and 9 direct hits, the following was found:

  • From 25.000 m2 of the production workroom 22.500 m2 was complitely destroyed
  • More than 30 km of principal electrical-techological installation suppling the production process (over 95%) were destroyed.
  • 90% of the production equipment (forging machines: presses, hammers, electical and gas furnaces, forging rolls, soldering iron, machine saws, furnaces for sand blast heat treatment, calibrated gauges, lathes, copy milling machines, grinding machines, drilling machines, ferro-flux apparatus, eqipment testing the hardness, microscopes, ultrasound apparatus complitly, pyrometric system for forging temperature control and many other very specifc and expensive equipment) was destroyed complitely or partly.
  • The head office of 4500 m2 surface was destroyed complitely with all technical and technlogical documentation
  • The computer center with invaluable data was destroyed complitely
  • All above mentione caused stop of work in almost all Serbian industry.

After destroy of the company, parallely with the cleaning up, started reconstruction of the production equipment. After bombing by the end of 2000 the following was done:


  • Zastava Kovacnica after reconstruction
    More than 3200 m2 of walls were built, plastered and whitewashed
  • Workrooms I and II with total surface of 12000 m2 were reconstucted complitely
  • In the wokrooms I and II new machine and electrical installation was installed and partly in the workroom III (forging toolroom)
  • 9 overhauled cranes were put into operation
  • Works on tearing down and removing the damaged concrete roofs and columns in the workroms III/1 and III/2 are to be finished
  • More than 2500 kg of explosives were used for directed and controlled blowing up of rest debris
  • Foundation steps for all production workroms were done

Unfortunately, rapid reconstruction of the destroyed plants was decelerated due to unenviable economical situation. For a partly end of works on covering the production workrooms, where the production process is caried out under the sky, it is necessary to provide urgently a donation of $ 500,000.00.
From that reason, the company is open for any eventual donations as well as any business contacts that may make possible further development and reconstruction, and also a possibility for mutual investment and investment of share funds in this company.
From interested companies, we expect to see a future and stable partner of a good quality in our company, and to help us in this moment with any of above mention type of cooperation.

In addition to a huge investment from own reserves and donations, all workrooms in the company were not reconstructed, and the production process is still carried out in destroyed company parts.

Cleaning up and reconstruction of the production workrooms were carried out by the "ZASTAVA KOVACNICA" company workers and also by the following companies: "RAD"-Belgrade, "GOSA"-Montaza from Velike Plane, "INVEST-IMPORT" From Belgrade, "ELING"from Loznica, "UNIONINVEST" from Kragujevac, "KAZIMIR VELJKOVIC" from Kragujevac, "ZASTAVA-PROCESNA OPREMA" from Kragujevac, "GOSA -ELEKTRO" from Smederevska Palanka and other ten production companies.
